Firbank is seeking a compassionate and suitably qualified casual Boarding Assistant to join our fabulous team. Reporting to the Head of Boarding, Boarding Assistants are key members of the Boarding team and are jointly accountable for approximately 30 students from Years 7 – 12. The successful candidate will be responsible for the specific care and supervision of our students, as well as a shared responsibility for the general good order of the Boarding House and the pastoral and academic welfare of those within it. This position involves shift work, including weekends and some overnight stays on a rotating roster. Accommodation is provided for overnight stays.Since 1909, the Boarding House has been an integral part of life at Firbank. Students from rural Victoria, interstate and overseas live onsite in Tovell House, our purpose-built boarding facility. This is a casual role at our Boarding House, commencing ASAP for the right candidate.Key Responsibilities:The primary responsibility of this position is to ensure that boarders are safe, cared for, socially connected, motivated and valued.Ability to relate well to adolescents while maintaining professional boundaries.Be a role model for our boarders.Awareness of issues relating to Aboriginal, cultural and linguistic diversity amongst Boarding House students.Oversee homework, meal times, and bedtimes.
